In its quest to improve education within the public works sector, the State Board in 1970 adopted a scholarship award program which was immediately incorporated by the Inland Empire/Desert Chapter. The State Board has continued to improve the program and revised criteria were adopted on September 17, 1983, and on May 1, 1991.

The Inland Empire/Desert Chapter presents the scholarship awards annually to the person(s) who best meet the requirements as outlined by the State.

​

Criteria for the award are based on the purpose to foster further education, training and development beyond high school, acceptance to an accredited college of their choice with emphasis on majoring in public works technology, public works administration or engineering.
